President
Concrete Alliance, Inc.

New York’s Concrete Canvas

I feel quite honored to be the President of the Concrete Alliance. Born and raised here in this great metropolis, which I state proudly was built by dedicated crafted Union tradesmen. As an Engineer and President of Costello Concrete Construction Company and Gerosa Construction Corp., both companies placed concrete the Union way, the right way. I earned the opportunity to build a piece of the New York’s vast skyline, a privilege so few are bestowed.

My boss, George Costello, formed the Concrete Alliance, Inc. in 1912, with the objective of maintaining harmony between management and labor. Soon to be accompanied by his friend Roger Corbetta, New York’s Concrete Canvas took shape. Today, the Concrete Alliance has reemerged stronger and tech savvy.

I boast about our DVD presentation highlighting a two day cycle, and the Union workers that orchestrate this accomplishment. I will proudly accompany and chat with you about any of the thousands of Concrete structures that reside in my city. I’ll tell you how Concrete should be included in the revised NYC building codes and how tax savings legislation should be passed for environmentally friendly Concrete structures. It’s the only building material that has shown to stand the test of time.

It is my objective as President to promote, encourage, and provide public awareness of the benefits that Concrete bestows. The combination of water, aggregate, and cement produces concrete’s strength, yet my emphasis has been its byproduct, safety. The fire dept, tenants, teachers, parishioners, and your neighbors must instinctively question if their office or residents is a concrete structure. The voice of the public is not organized enough to be heard properly during these times where safe building construction is concerned.

The Concrete Alliance in 2004 will communicate through the media and community organizations that as we enter this construction revolution here in NYC that Concrete beats alternative materials in new construction. I will preach that Union labor is always more cost effective than non union labor, short or long term. I will work with the Comptroller’s office to enforce prevailing wage. I will always fight for what is honest, no matter if it favors labor or management.

Thank you.

The Concrete Alliance originated from the idea that the public will have a voice in demanding reinforced cast-in-place concrete as the material of a safer choice.

The goal of the Concrete Alliance is to educate politicians, developers, architects, engineers, insurers, and the general public about the safety benefits that a cast-in-place reinforced concrete building offers.
